Covid 19 Roundup of the Supports Available to Businesses Right Now

Get a free mentor at https://mentorswork.ie/. This is a Small Firms Association Skillnets initiative that is 100% funded but you need to act quickly, they are limited to 300 businesses.

Contact your Local Enterprise Office – they are there to help. https://www.localenterprise.ie/ They can assign you free mentor support in the first instance and the mentor can help you assess where you are and what supports are available to you.

Trading Online Vouchers – the funding available for these has increased to 90%. That means you’ll only have to pay 10% of the costs. If you’ve got time and you’ve always harboured ideas for an online offering for your business, or you’ve wanted to add an online payments option now is a good time to look into it.

Business Continuity Vouchers from the Local Enterprise Office: If you have concerns about your business and how you’re going to fare when it restarts then this is a good option. The quicker you act, the better. This voucher is all about getting an idea of where you are now and figuring out the supports you’re going to need.

Training supports from Skillnet – if there is training that your business needs, that can be delivered remotely, eg. using Zoom or equivalent, Skillnets are able to cover a percentage of the training costs. If you’re already a member of a Skillnet make contact with them first.

Free online training from the ETB www.ecollege.ie – these courses are usually only free to Job Seekers but they are free to everyone at the moment.

Covid 19 Business Loans (in conjunction with Microfinance Ireland). Up to 50,000 loan is available. It’s probably the easiest of all the loans to get and apply for. The Local Enterprise Office provides a mentor to help with the application process. The interest has been reduced to 4.5%. The term is for 3 years and there is no need to pay anything for the first 6 months and there’s no penalty for early repayment. https://www.localenterprise.ie/Portal/response/Other-LEO-Supports/LEO-Response-Supports-pdf.pdf

Covid 19 Online Retail Scheme – There is up to 80% funding available on this scheme. This is a support for Retailers with 10 or more staff https://www.enterprise-ireland.com/en/funding-supports/Online-Retail/Online-Retail-Scheme/

Claim your entitlements: make sure you are claiming the supports you are entitled to personally. If your business is not trading you are entitled to an unemployment payment and I’m told the process is easy https://www.gov.ie/en/service/be74d3-covid-19-pandemic-unemployment-payment/
